Wonderful Week
We had a great time at the Cabin. Doodle, Roo, Pam, her gd, M, and I went to the Yellowstone Imax and saw a movie on Yellowstone, and one on Bears. It was great fun. We spent lots of time relaxing and enjoying our time at the cabin. The leaves were BEAUTIFUL! Just brilliant reds, oranges and yellows. The Fishing was great- even Roo caught a few fish on his own! I'll post some pics later. And I will have a guess blogger- Bug is going to post an entry about his backpacking trip with his dad.

Fabulous Field trip!
Yes- the major field trip of the year- Our "Yellowstone School" week is upon us. This tradition started a few years ago when Ben was headed to Alaska fishing then to Scout Camp, leaving me home with the kids for over a week. I decided if I was going to be alone with them, I may as well head to the cabin for a week of fun. This year rather than going while he was at scout camp (since cub scout day camp was the same week) We planned our trip for this week.
Ben and Bug are going on a backpack trip in Yellowstone Mon-Wed, and me, Doodle, Roo, Pam and her granddaughter are hanging at the cabin. There will be plenty of "real life learning" going on, and I'm excited! Soooo We're offf! Check back in a week for tons of cool pictures and experiences from our Yellowstone School week.

Our week with Ferdinand, and Beyond biscuits
Our FIAR story for the week is The Story of Ferdinand. This is one of our favorites because Ben served a mission for our church in Spain when he was younger. He served in the Southern portion of Spain. So this is always an exciting story. Just a few highlights of our week with Ferdinand-
Monday we talked about the culture of Spain, found it on a map, then we watched some clips on YouTube- First the Disney short cartoon Ferdinand, then a Goofy clip where Goofy is a Bullfighter.
Tuesday we had Ben show us some pictures from his mission of the Alahmbra, talked about the use of repetition throughout the story, and the way the author includes you in the story by asking questions.
Wednesday- we noticed how Ferdinand had a growth chart on a tree in the story- so Doodle practiced measuring things. Then Wednesday night we made "Ferdinand's Fabulous Paella" for dinner.
Today we'll talk about Cork trees, and Vultures for Science, and call the week a success!
Bug has been doing Skylark for our Beyond Fiar title for the past few weeks. In the story it talked about Sarah making biscuits- so his assignment today was to make biscuits. He did a SUPER job- they were delicious! Other things he's done this week- Learned about the Great Chicago Fire, and he did some research on the Yellowstone Fires and did an Electronic Field trip on the Yellowsonte Fires. He's also written a paper about the firefighters, and what qualities make a good firefighter.
And his latest project- My Harry Potter obsessed boy- is writing a sequel to the Harry Potter books. He was so dissapointed that there won't be another book- that he's decided to just write his own. In his book, Harry, Ron and Hermione are in training to be aurors. He's got some good ideas, so in a few years if you see Harry Potter book 8 on the shelves, pick it up and read it! lol.

The final Easter Egg
Yes! It's September- but we finally found the last and final Easter Egg from our egg hunt this year! ;) Ok- so I truly thought we'd found them all. Rewind to Easter- We got a Wii for Easter for the kids- and had my mom and dad came over to hide it and the Easter Eggs all around the house. When we got home from the cabin- they were all hiden, and the kids began their search. After quite a while of searching we'd found the Wii, the remote and game, and most of the eggs. The egg search continued for a few days- and each day they'd find one or 2 more. Finally I thought we'd found them all, and they found one more. Well, Today, almost 6 months later- they found the last egg (I hope there's not still one hiding somewhere!)
Bug found it- he was upstairs for quiet time (supposed to be reading) and found the final egg (I don't think he was reading!) under the globe on top of the bookshelf (guess that means we don't use the globe very often in our school)
Moral of the story- Don't ask my Dad to hide the Easter Eggs....or maybe do ask him to hide them, and you'll be finding them for months to come!

Busy week at our place
We've had a busy week- with Bug's Book club meeting on Monday- and out to Dinner with Ben's aunt and her Family (Thanks Trish! We had a wonderful time!) Then Bug and Doodle have karate tuesday, Bug taking Piano lessons on wednesdays, Cub Scouts and more karate today, and so much more going on, not to mention a whole day Wednesday was spent canning salsa! But aaaahhh! Tomorrow is Friday! It will be a "Home economics" day tomorrow, cuz this house needs some attention. Hey it was a class at public school- I think it's a legitimate class here too- and the learning will be applied directly!
Oh- and Just a scrapbook page I finished- and I thought it turned out SO darn cute- I'm loving playing around with adobe photoshop elements-It was fun extracting the picture of Doodle and Roo. I'm not very good at that part yet- but I think it still turned out okay. I used Digitreats Run kit for the cool papers.

Our wonderful weekend!
We had a great time for our anniversary. First off, I met Ben at his work, and the kids went home with Pam (Thanks SO much!) Then we headed south to Provo to This Bed and Breakfast The room was great, with a Huge king size bed and jacuzzi tub. Thursday night we went to Cabellas. (ok- some of you might not think Cabellas is a fun thing to do for an anniversary- but I loved it!) We had a Gift certificate there we've been wanting to use- I found some cute shoes on the clearance section- 2 pair- only $17 a pair! Ben found some cool fishing stuff. We were going to get a new target and arrows for the cabin- but price wise- we decided to go somewhere else for cheap arrows. lol. Then we went out to Dinner at Applebees. I LOVE their Oriental Chicken Salad. Then we headed back to the Bed and Breakfast.
Friday morning after Breakfast- Ben had reservations to go Fly Fishing on the Provo River with a guide. It was so fun! I caught a HUGE 18 inch brown trout, had a few others on, but couldn't land them. I brought the camera- so we could get pictures- but I left the camera Battery sitting in our room. :p So no pictures of the fish.
We went back to the room and got cleaned up and went to Dinner And did a little Thrift store shopping. We found some cool things- a kick/punching bag for Doodle and Bug for Karate, some books (yah- you know me and thrift store bargain books!) A pair of shoes for Ben, some sandals for Doodle.
Saturday morning after breakfast, we went up the canyon and did a little biking around. There are bike trails all over up there. We stopped at Bridal Veil Falls.
Then hopped in the car and Headed for Timpanagos Caves. The hike was STEEP, but only 1 1/2 miles. The caves were awesome, and so was the view from the top! Wow!
We had a wonderful time. We did a little more thrift store shopping on the way back home, Then it's back to real life, went to pick the kids up at my mom and dad's (Thanks SO much Mom and Dad for watching my them!) Ben is such a wonderful husband, and I'm so thankful to be married to him for time and all eternity.

Happy Early Anniversary!
Sunday is our 12th Anniversary, and we are headed out of town. Not sure where we are going- other than Ben said "Get someone to watch the kids for 2 days." So off we go- they are going to Pam's tonight, and to my mom and dad's tomorrow night. The kids are so excited to have sleepovers. Each year we take turns planning what we'll do for our anniversary- and it's Ben's turn this year.
It's Hard to believe life has gone by so quickly. I am so lucky to be married to such a wonderful man. He works so hard to support our family- leaving for work before the crack of dawn. He is very supportive of me staying home and homeschooling the boys. I love him so much! And I'm so grateful to get to spend Eternity with him by my side.
Our Wedding day 12 years ago- We were married in the Logan, LDS Temple had a super reception in my parent's yard, then went on a Honeymoon to the Cabin and Glacier National Park.
Here is a pic of 2 of us last year on our Anniversary- on the Heber Valley Railroad.

Sword fighting
Bug has been begging to have a "real sword" (yeah right kid- you are only 9!) So Ben told Bug and Doodle he would make them some swords out of wood. So this weekend, Ben spent some time in the shed making swords. They turned out really cool.
